Aston Villa could be about to sell four stars after Danny Ings reveal – pundit

Alan Hutton has suggested Aston Villa could offload at least four senior stars to free up space for new signings this summer.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Villa defender tipped the likes of Morgan Sanson, Bertrand Traore, Marvelous Nakamba and Douglas Luiz to be on the chopping block.

A club source told Football Insider on Wednesday (25 May) that Villa are open to offers for Danny Ings as Steven Gerrard looks to bring in a new A-list striker.

The 29-year-old could be allowed to leave to free up wages and part-finance a new signing.

Hutton suggested four more senior stars could be in the same boat heading into the summer.

“I think they’ll try and get people out the door,” Hutton told Football Insider’s Russell Edge.

“We’ve said that they’re going to look to strengthen. You can look at Morgan Sanson, Bertrand Traore, possibly Nakamba and Douglas Luiz.

“There are certain people there where they are heavily stacked in certain areas. If he wants to bring in his top targets, he’s probably going to have to move some on.

“Some of those players I mentioned will be desperate to play. They will want to continue that career as well. It’s no slight on them, it’s just not quite worked at Villa.”

Villa have already wrapped up deals for Philippe Coutinho and Boubacar Kamara ahead of the summer window opening.

As revealed by Football Insider last month (18 April), the Villans are also in the market for a new centre-back.
