Aston Villa expert drops ‘unbelievable’ Unai Emery exit claim

Unai Emery will not quit Aston Villa to join Liverpool, Bayern Munich, Man United or any other top club this summer.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Villa and Rangers defender Alan Hutton is adamant that Emery, 52, is not tempted by reported interest from the German giants following his “incredible” transformation of the Birmingham side.

Now, the Spaniard is reportedly set to extend his deal at Villa Park until 2027, with Villa chiefs keen to see the former Arsenal, Villarreal and Sevilla boss become their version of Man United legend Sir Alex Ferguson.

Emery has masterminded an unexpected revival of the Midlands club’s fortunes, with the recent threat of relegation turning into a likely qualification to the Champions League and a possible Europa Conference League trophy this season following his year-and-a-half spell as boss.

Unai Emery has been ‘unbelievable’ at Aston Villa – Hutton

Hutton claimed that Emery is building something “special” at Aston Villa and was not shocked to see him pen a new deal.

“There was, and is, no chance of him leaving,” he told Football Insider.

“Everything that Emery’s done, how quickly he’s done it and turned them around is incredible.

“From where they were last season to this season, challenging for the top four, semi-final of the Conference League – it’s been unbelievable.

“He’s building something special and I think it would possibly crumble if he were to leave.

“I understand the interest from Bayern Munich as his CV speaks for itself, especially his work at Villa – that’s one of his biggest achievements.

“I think with the way the manager is, he doesn’t want to leave.”
