Aston Villa fans deliver their verdict on Steve Bruce’s future after Forest defeat
By Amir Mir
Aston Villa suffered a 2-1 defeat against Nottingham Forest at the City Ground on Saturday evening – and fans on Twitter have provided mixed views on Steve Bruce’s future.
Promotion expert Bruce, who joined the club in mid-October replacing the sacked Roberto Di Matteo, has witnessed mixed results during his time as manager.
He has overseen the Midlands giants win five games in a row on home soil during his tenure, win their first away game of the season at Reading in October, but also suffer a number of defeats.
Most of those losses have come in the last month, with Villa losing to Cardiff, Wolves, Tottenham in the FA Cup, Brentford and now Forest since the turn of the year.
As a result, they are 13 points away from their minimum target for the Championship season, which is a play-off place.
Some fans on social media were calling for Bruce’s head, while others believe he needs time to sort things out.
One supporter believes sacking Bruce would be crazy because it would start the cycle of bringing in a new manager and a new set of players.
In the summer, under Di Matteo, Villa purchased nine players, three of them have now gone out on loan.
Furthermore, they added another eight players in January as Bruce tries to stamp his own authority on a stumbling team.
Nonetheless, fans questioned his tactics and asked him to leave while others said they will give him till the start of next season to prove himself.
Overall, the Villa Park faithful provided mixed views on their current manager and his future at the club.
