Aston Villa in contract talks with three more players after John McGinn
John McGinn is a modern-day Aston Villa legend, and news of him being offered a new contract will be music to the ears of every fan.
Aston Villa signed McGinn for a bargain £2.5million in 2018, and since then, the Scottish midfield machine has amassed almost 300 appearances for the club.
During the past seven years, what the 30-year-old has achieved is beyond anyone’s wildest dreams, leading Villa back to the Premier League before qualifying for the Champions League in 2024 and now competing in the Europa League.
Through his contagious, energetic performances and important match-winning goals, the versatile midfielder has become the glue of Unai Emery’s system, and it’s why Villa snubbed Everton’s summer interest in McGinn.
Meanwhile, after beginning the season with three goals in nine appearances, supporters will be pleased to see that a fresh contract offer is on the table.

Aston Villa to offer Morgan Rogers, Youri Tielemans and Pau Torres contracts after John McGinn
As reported by the Telegraph journalist John Percy, McGinn is close to signing a new contract at Villa Park with his current deal expiring in June 2027.

Encouragingly, he isn’t the only one, as Percy revealed that ‘talks are ongoing’ to offer teammates Youri Tielemans, Morgan Rogers and Pau Torres fresh contracts.
Rogers, who starred for England on international duty, had interest from the likes of Tottenham during the summer window, while Tielemans has attracted suitors from abroad.
A new contract for all four of their key players should hopefully prevent clubs from trying to prise them away, with Rogers inarguably being the most important.
Arguably the most technically gifted player in the Villa squad, the 23-year-old has cemented his place in Thomas Tuchel’s England plans and must recapture last season’s form.

Rogers needs to reach 2024/25 levels
Despite scoring his first goal for the senior Three Lions against Wales, Rogers has seen his form drop off at Aston Villa and that has been a concern.
A return of just two assists in 10 appearances across all competitions is worlds away from the levels he reached last term.
Morgan Rogers 2024/25 stats (Premier League) |
37 games |
8 goals |
10 assists |
16 big chances created |
6.58 expected goals (xG) |
1.4 key passes per game |
1.5 shots per game |
Rogers produced some incredible numbers in the top flight, but he’s yet to translate such form into this campaign, whilst Villa have also struggled.
Supporters will hope that a goal for his country can inspire the 2025 PFA Young Player of the Year to start producing consistently once more.
