Aston Villa may already have Michael Beale replacement lined up after ‘worrying’ news – Hutton
Alan Hutton has suggested Steven Gerrard may already have Michael Beale’s replacement lined up at Aston Villa.
The former Scotland international, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, admitted losing his assistant manager would be a “worry” for the Villa boss.
As reported by the South London Press (16 May), Beale, 41, is in the running for the vacant Charlton Athletic manager’s post.
The Villa coach is also reportedly being eyed up for a possible Championship role.
Hutton suggested talks may have already taken place between Gerrard and Beale over the latter’s future.
He claimed the Villa manager would have plans in place to replace such a key member of his coaching staff.
Hutton told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “Beale’s been a big part of Gerrard’s coaching career since it started.
“They work really well. Michael Beale does a lot of the work behind the scenes and Gerrard is obviously that Walter Smith-type. As soon as he walks in, he’s in charge of the room, everybody listens to him.
“He’s been there, seen it and done it. They like him being in charge of it all.
“Of course, it will be a worry. I think Steven Gerrard will have had this conversation with Beale before and understood that maybe at one stage he’s going to want to step out on his own.

“Gerrard’s going to have to have plans in the background for who else he would want to come in. It’s such a big role within the club. I’m pretty sure these conversations have already happened.”
Beale left his post as Liverpool’s head of academy coaching to follow Gerrard to Rangers in 2018 and then Villa in 2021.
