Aston Villa may sell Emiliano Buendia after £30m update – pundit

Aston Villa could sell Emiliano Buendia to raise funds and create space for Conor Gallagher, according to Noel Whelan.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Premier League and England Under-21s striker claimed Gallagher would be a good buy for £30million but there is currently no space for him.

Birmingham Live reported last week (20 June) that Villa are aware of the 22-year-old’s situation and Chelsea value him at £30million.

It is claimed Villa still want to bring in another midfielder despite signing Boubacar Kamara on a free transfer from Marseille at the beginning of the window.

“You’ve got to look, they’ve got a lot of midfield players,” Whelan told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“Something’s going to have to give in terms of midfield players at that football club because they seem to have a lot of big names and there are only few positions you can give.

“They’ve spent quite a bit of money and are doing business early again.

“He would be a good buy, he’s forced his way into the England reckoning and is a very tender age still but has a wise head of shoulders.

“I can only see him getting better and £30million would be about right for what he can give you as a player in a squad.

“If he does come into Aston Villa there’s got to be a sale on the cards.

“Whether that be Buendia or somebody else. Gallagher is quite an attacking player as well.

“If one comes in then as long as someone goes out it could work.”

Gallagher spent the 2021-22 season on loan at Crystal Palace and his form earned him his England debut.

He now has four caps to his name but is yet to make his senior competitive debut for Chelsea.

In other news, Aston Villa are willing to listen to offers for a ‘whinging’ star.
