Aston Villa star Moussa Diaby says ‘yes’ as ‘huge’ offer accepted – sources
Aston Villa winger Moussa Diaby has told the club he wants to accept the “huge” offer on the table from Al Ittihad, sources have told Football Insider.
Football Insider reported on Tuesday that the Saudi Arabian club were in talks to sign the France international and had offered him an astronomical salary to join.
Sources say that talks between the two clubs have now reached an advanced stage as this transfer progresses.
Despite an impressive debut campaign at Villa Park, the 25-year-old has said “yes” to the move and is now prepared to leave the Premier League for what amounts to a shock move overseas.
Diaby joined Villa last summer in a record deal that cost the club an initial fee of £43million, but after just one season he’s now close to leaving.
The Premier League outfit are expected to make a significant profit on the wide forward, but his departure will leave a hole in Unai Emery’s squad.
Aston Villa are set to lose a key member of the squad in Moussa Diaby
Diaby had been a regular under Emery last season, and he played a significant role in helping the club achieve Champions League football.
The 25-year-old played every game of Villa’s Premier League campaign, scoring six goals and providing eight assists.
With the club now preparing to compete in both the league and Europe, losing a vital member of the squad will be a blow as Villa kickstart pre-season.

Diaby might not be the only attacking star that Villa lose this summer either, as Football Insider revealed Chelsea are lining up a swap deal proposal to sign Ollie Watkins.
