Finance guru tips Aston Villa transfer ‘boost’ as Edens and Sawiris plot talks in Portugal
Aston Villa will receive a scouting and recruitment boost if they embark on a partnership with another European club.
So says finance expert Doctor Dan Plumley, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about Wes Edens and Nassef Sawiris’ investment ambitions.
Birmingham Live reported on Wednesday (30 March) that the pair are hopeful of striking a deal with Portuguese club Vitoria de Guimaraes.

It is understood that the two billionaires are keen to travel to Portugal for talks and to learn more about the club and its infrastructure.
Villa struck a strategic partnership with Egyptian club ZED last December and Edens and Sawiris are also keen on a Las Vegas-based MLS franchise.
Plumley explains how the club’s recruitment scouting systems would benefit from another link-up with Vitoria.
“Player recruitment and scouting are usually and the heart of this,” the Sheffield Hallam University expert told Football Insider’s Adam Williams.
“It normally comes down to sharing practices, establishing a network and working together. You get a real boost in those areas.
“You also have the add-ons like brand association and the exposure it gives you in different countries.
“These partnerships, which aren’t necessarily under the multi-club model, are all about sharing resources.”

Villa, who were beaten 2-1 by Wolves last Saturday (2 April), are currently 10th in the Premier League.
Football Insider revealed last Friday (1 April) that Edens and Sawiris plan to bankroll another transfer splurge of over £150million this summer.
