By Richard Parks
New Leeds United recruit Nathan Winder will play a key role in the club’s bid to reach their target of a play-off spot, according to a report.
Football website Training Ground Guru claim that the new United head of sports science is the most experienced of the four-man management team assembled by newly-appointed head coach Paul Heckingbottom.
It is said that Winder has a “stellar reputation within the performance industry” and, in addition to the key role he had at Barnsley with Heckingbottom’s backroom staff, he has set up conferences with the world-renowned expert Tim Gabbett.
Training Ground Guru report that Winder was born and grew up in Barnsley and is a close friend of Heckingbottom, who is a lifelong fan of the club.
Heckingbottom spent two years as permanent manager of Barnsley after graduating from the role of academy coach.
He steered the club to promotion from League One and 14th place in last season’s Championship after they sold their two best players, Conor Hourihane and Sam Winnall, in the winter window.
In other Leeds United news, fans have gone into meltdown after it has been confirmed that the club have bid “extraordinary” sum of up to £12million for goal machine.
