Betting update: Rangers and Celtic joint faves after odds slashed to sign midfield dynamo in Jan
Rangers and Celtic are joint favourites to sign Hibernian midfielder John McGinn in the January transfer window, according to the latest bookmakers’ odds.
BetVictor have the two Old Firm rivals priced at 4/1 to snap up McGinn, 23, next month while West Ham (6/1)have also emerged in the running to land the Easter Road star.
Celtic’s odds to sign the midfield dynamo have been slashed remarkably since October as they were previously priced at 8/1 while Rangers have drifted from 5/2 favourites to now be level in the running with their Glasgow enemies.
The Sun has recently reported that West Ham have entered the race to sign McGinn next month.
It is understood that Hibernian manager Neil Lennon may be willing to cash in on the Scotland international for a fee of £4million, which may price him out of a potential move to Ibrox due to their lack of transfer funds.
Celtic on the other hand may come into a bit of money after speculation has swirled about the future of Moussa Dembele ahead of the transfer window opening up next week.
McGinn has been in top form for Hibs in their first season back in the Scottish Premiership this term.
The midfielder has made 26 appearances across all competitions, scoring four goals and supplying four assists.
In other Rangers news, the Gers are in the hunt to sign this Premier League forward as talks are underway over a contract.
