Brady reveals the real reason behind Tottenham striker Kane leaving Arsenal
Arsenal’s legendary winger Liam Brady has revealed the real reason why the Gunners let Harry Kane leave the club at nine-years-old.
According to the former number seven, who was in charge of youth development between 1996 and 2013, the England striker was ‘chubby and not very athletic,’ but regretted the decision in light of his progression.
Speaking to Corriere della Sera the 61-year-old said of the 101 Premier League goals hitman: “Unfortunately yes. He was chubby and not very athletic, but we got it wrong.
“Even Tottenham loaned him out to the lower leagues three or four times though.
“But through his determination he has carved out an amazing career and he deserves it.
“After Messi, Ronaldo and Lewandowksi, there is Kane, the statistics speak for themselves and he’s still only 24.”
Kane, now 24, is one of the world’s most potent forwards and it was under Brady that the youngster was told he wouldn’t make it with Arsenal.
The Spurs striker scored the only goal of the game as the Lillywhites emerged with three points from the North London derby on Saturday – his seventh against the Gunners since his emergence.
Rejection from Arsenal spurred the forward on and only last week the striker admitted that he uses the pain from that to make him a better player.
Rumours of a switch to La Liga giants Real Madrid have been circulating for some time now and while the former Arsenal youth player continues to break goalscoring records, suggestions of a big move will continue.
Kane will be the first name to go on Mauricio Pochettino’s team sheet when the Argentinian’s side come face to face with Juventus in Turin in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
