Brendan Rodgers claims imminent arrival Kouassi Eboue is a similar player to Liverpool maestro Philippe Coutinho.
Eboue is believed to be joining Celtic as part of a £2.8 million move from FC Krasnoda but his switch from Russia has been delayed slightly.
Talking in the Daily Record, Rodgers was full of praise for the youngster and he believes Eboue shares similar qualities to Liverpool star Coutinho, as well as a young Raheem Sterling.
“He [Eboue] is one of those young players I look at with the same feeling I had as when I saw a young [Philippe] Coutinho or a young [Raheem] Sterling,” said Rodgers. “This boy has that. Within 10 seconds you see his talent,” he added.
“Eboue’s a big talent and, if he arrives on board and everything is good, this is a great chance for him to flourish.”
Rodgers worked with both of the Liverpool stars during his time as manager at Anfield up until October 2015 when he was sacked following a poor start to the Premier League season.
He has enjoyed a huge amount of success at Celtic already Rodgers will be hoping that Eboue will be confirmed as Celtic’s first transfer in the January window. .
The Ivory Coast midfielder has already featured 15 times for the Russian outfit in the league and the Europa League this season and he picked up an assist in the 2-1 defeat against Nice in the European competition last month.
