Brendan Rodgers responds after reported offer made for crucial Celtic player

By Danny Wright

Brendan Rodgers has remained dismissive about speculation surrounding Moussa Dembele’s future at Celtic.

It has been widely reported all summer that teams from across Europe have been interested in the 21-year-old striker with French outlet Le 10 Sport recently claiming that West Ham have tabled an offer for him.

However Rodgers has been quoted by Celtic’s official Twitter account as saying he has “nothing to say” on the matter and reiterates that Dembele is still injured and will not be able to take part in Saturday’s trip to Kilmarnock.

Since signing from Fulham last summer, Dembele has emerged as one of Parkhead’s most crucial players as his goals played a major part in helping Rodgers guide his men to a domestic treble without suffering a single defeat.

The Frenchman, who is also said to be on the radar of Ligue 1 champions Monaco, has only been able to feature twice so far this season when he played against Linfield in the Champions League in mid-July.

He failed to score in either of those clashes with Linfield, which is surprising considering he netted 32 goals in 49 appearances across all competitions last season.

The France Under-21 international has been troubled by hamstring injuries since the end of last season but Leigh Griffiths has done a fine job in replacing him.

In other Celtic news, Craig Gordon has warned the Bhoys that teams will be scrambling to sign up this first-team mainstay in the future.
