Rodgers makes admission after intense speculation surrounds Celtic ace Dembele
Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has revealed that he isn’t concerned by the constant speculation surrounding star striker Moussa Dembele.
The 21-year-old has been linked with a host of Premier League clubs in recent weeks, with Brighton and Stoke the most recent clubs to be named, according to a report in the Scottish Sun.
It was widely reported on Christmas day that the Hoops had accepted a bid from Brighton for Dembele, however them reports were quickly rubbished.
Rodgers seems sanguine about the intense speculation surrounding the Celtic ace, admitting that they are part and parcel of his job as manager of a big club.
“There’s always speculation” he said, as quoted by the Evening Times.
“With Moussa we are getting to that stage where there will be a different team every day. That’s the way it is.”
Dembele has an outstanding first season with the Scottish champions, scoring 32 goals as the Hoops won their first domestic treble since 2001.
He made a huge impact on the Champions League group stages, scoring three goals including a double against Manchester City.
This season the Frenchman hasn’t been as prolific, scoring only nine goals so far as injuries and squad rotation have player their part.
One of the nine goals was against PSG in the Champions League group stages, which no doubt caught the attention of clubs interested in the French under-21 international.
Dembele’s last game for the Hoops was the goal less draw against Rangers, in which he was substituted on the hour mark having failed to make much of an impact on the game.
