‘Brilliant’ development ‘bodes well’ for Celtic transfer plan – Mills

A return to the Champions League “bodes well” for Ange Postecoglou’s summer transfer plans at Celtic.

That’s according to former Leeds United and England defender Danny Mills, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about what calibre of player the Hoops can sign this summer.

The Daily Record (4 May), claim Celtic are set to make upwards of £40million from their participation in next season’s Champions League group stage.

The winners of the Scottish Premiership are now guaranteed a place in next season’s group stage after UEFA banned Russian teams from competing in Europe.

Mills also claims Celtic will benefit if Rangers win Wednesday’s (18 May) Europa League final as it will shine a bigger light on the Scottish game.

“For Celtic, you have the lure of the Champions League as well as extra finances, when trying to sign these players,” Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitely.

“It all bodes well. It would also be good if Rangers win the Europa League. That creates more competition.

“There would be more focus on the Scottish league, the Scottish game. As much as there is that rivalry there, it would be brilliant for Scottish football.

“It would benefit both clubs as they can feed off that and both reap the rewards.”

Celtic return to the Champions League group stage for the first time since the 2017-18 campaign.

The club completed a domestic double this season, winning the league and the Scottish League Cup.

In other news, one expert claims Celtic will announce the signing of Cameron Carter-Vickers ‘very soon’.
