‘Won’t see it anywhere else’ – Newcastle Exclusive: Pundit drools amid big Sky update
Michael Brown has claimed the passion among the Newcastle United fanbase is unmatched as he tipped the takeover to take the club to stunning new heights.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, the ex-Man City and Tottenham midfielder is getting increasingly excited about the potential that is about to be unleashed at St James’ Park.
As reported by Sky Sports, Amanda Staveley’s consortium are on the verge of buying the club from Mike Ashley with backing from both the Saudi Arabia sovereign wealth fund and the Reuben Brothers.
Brown is in no doubt about the potential of Newcastle with the right kind of investment.
“We know what the fans are like up there, it’s incredible,” he told Football Insider.
“They just want a team higher up the league challenging for things and that’s all they want. With the investment that’s gone in so far they’ve literally been scraping through, they got relegated and came back up.
“I just think they’ll want a club up the other end of the table, pushing in the right direction. You’d expect Newcastle United to be in the top ten, wouldn’t you? For sure, with the size of the club.
“That’s all the fans want, they want a bit of success, they want trophies and to be a bit closer to winning something. The demand at Newcastle United, the passion, you won’t see it anywhere else.”
It is expected that the takeover will be completed in around two to three weeks after Staveley’s consortium paid a deposit to Ashley last week.
In other Newcastle United news, it has been claimed that Erling Haaland may be headed to St James’ Park in jawdropping deal.
