Bruno Guimaraes blown away by Newcastle signing after what he’s just seen

Newcastle midfielder Bruno Guimaraes dispatched an upbeat message on social media to a new teammate following his debut.

The Magpies’ pre-season struggles continued as they opened their 2025 Coupang Play Series with a 1-0 defeat to a K-League XI, extending their winless run.

Newcastle have already lost to to Celtic and Arsenal, raising concerns among supporters, and there was little sign of improvement in this latest outing.

Eddie Howe fielded a strong line-up, with Anthony Gordon, Anthony Elanga, and Sandro Tonali all starting.

However, the match took a further turn for the worse when Joe Willock was forced off with an ankle injury, adding fitness concerns ahead of the new campaign.

Despite the overall disappointment, Guimaraes offered a rare bright spot for fans, praising one of the club’s newest arrivals for his debut performance. The Brazilian midfielder shared a message of encouragement, highlighting a more optimistic takeaway from an otherwise forgettable display.

Bruno Guimaraes hails Seung-Soo Park after eye-catching Newcastle debut

While Newcastle fell to another pre-season defeat, there was at least one positive to take from the loss with the exciting debut of new signing Seung-Soo Park, who caught the attention of teammate Guimaraes.

The Brazilian midfielder reshared a clip from the club’s official account showcasing Park dribbling past two defenders during the game, captioning it: “Well played meu amigo.”

The South Korean winger joined from K League 2 side Suwon Bluewings and impressed both players and fans in the crowd, as the Magpies continued their participation in the 2025 Coupang Play Series in South Korea.

The 18-year-old has made 28 senior appearances for Suwon in all competitions, scoring once and providing three assists. He has also been capped five times for South Korea’s under-20s.

Although he is currently with the senior squad for pre-season, it’s expected that Park will link up with Newcastle’s U21 side once the team returns to Tyneside.

While new signings are already involved in pre-season preparations, the club look set to add another name to the squad with the arrival of Aaron Ramsdale.

Newcastle are poised to complete a loan deal for Ramsdale from Southampton, which includes an option to buy.

Initially, Newcastle had targeted James Trafford, but negotiations with Burnley stalled over the fee, allowing Man City to swoop in and complete the signing.

Now, the club have pivoted towards Ramsdale, and the structure of the deal may offer more flexibility as they continue their summer rebuild.
