However, the experienced full-back proved vital during the latter part of the season after Hall picked up a season-ending injury.
The 34-year-old managed just 14 Premier League starts last term, and his limited game time only added to speculation over a potential move away.
Football Insider revealed that Trippier came close to leaving Newcastle during the January window, with Turkish giants Galatasaray expressing serious interest.
Although he opted to remain at St James’ Park at the time, uncertainty continues to surround his future now the summer window is open. Still, the former England international appeared fully focused as he shared a training update on social media, prompting a reaction from several teammates.

The video drew plenty of reactions from teammates, with Guimaraes, Joelinton and even Man City’s Kalvin Phillips all liking the post.
While the camaraderie in the squad remains clear, Trippier is one of several players whose futures at the club remain uncertain.
Football Insider revealed that Trippier is among the names who could be moved on from Newcastle as the club are considering trimming their wage bill this summer.
Since joining from Atletico Madrid, the 34-year-old has been a key figure for Eddie Howe’s side, racking up 123 appearances, four goals and 25 assists but his time could soon come to an end.

Newcastle set to push for Yoane Wissa after string of transfer setbacks
While outgoings are expected at St James’ Park, the need for reinforcements is also growing.
Football Insider reported that Newcastle are stepping up their pursuit of Brentford attacker Yoane Wissa after missing out on several targets this summer.
However, Man United have made a new bid for Bryan Mbeumo [BBC Sport] and may complicate matters, as Brentford are unlikely to sanction the departure of both players in the same window.
Newcastle have already seen moves for Liam Delap, Joao Pedro and potentially Hugo Ekitike fall through, and they will be hoping to avoid another setback in their efforts to land Wissa.
