Bruno Guimaraes reacts to message from Newcastle ace Dan Burn after ‘upset’ reveal

Bruno Guimaraes reacted to a message from Dan Burn after the Newcastle defender revealed he and his teammates were “upset”.

The Magpies enjoyed their best season of the 21st century last term, securing silverware in the form of the Carabao Cup and a return to the Champions League.

However, despite beating the Reds in the League Cup final, Liverpool seems to be gaining the upper hand in the tussle for Alexander Isak.

The Swedish forward has not travelled to Asia with the club’s squad for their pre-season tour of Asia, and the ex-Borussia Dortmund striker has made clear he wants to leave this summer.

Isak’s desire to leave Newcastle is the latest of a long series of setbacks the Magpies have suffered this transfer window, after missing out on several key targets, including James Trafford, Hugo Ekitike, and Bryan Mbeumo.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Burn revealed that Newcastle’s players would be “upset” if Isak were to leave this summer.

Dan Burn shares ‘class’ message with Newcastle supporters

Amidst the Isak-related chaos that surrounds Newcastle, Burn took to Instagram to share several pictures of himself enjoying pre-season preparations, captioned: “Hard work and class support from the fans out in Singapore. On to South Korea”.

The post was liked by Toon captain Guimaraes, showing his support for the England international.

Dan Burn and Newcastle stars need resolution ahead of World Cup

Football Insider Verdict

The distraction of a transfer saga is an unwelcome one at the best of times, but these are certainly not those for Newcastle and their stars at the moment.

The Mapgies are repeatedly coming up short in their attempts to strengthen the quality of their squad.

A return to the Champions League is looming, and the Premier League and UEFA’s financial rules are adding pressure on Newcastle to continue qualifying for Europe’s premier competition, as without the revenue, the club are likely to fail to comply and will face sanctions in the future.

However, on a more individual level, this debacle could not have come at a worse time for Burn and his teammates.

The former Fulham man is on the outskirts of the England set-up, and a poor season for both the club and him could end any hopes the defender has of earning a place on the plane to the USA for the World Cup next year.
