Bukayo Saka and Anthony Elanga react to Joe Willock’s update amid Newcastle exit whisper

Arsenal star Bukayo Saka and Newcastle-linked Anthony Elanga were among the Premier League names reacting to Joe Willock’s latest update amid speculation over his future.

The midfielder endured a difficult season at St James’ Park, largely limited to a rotational role and making just 11 Premier League starts throughout the campaign.

With opportunities scarce, rumours around a possible exit have continued to build. Football Insider revealed that Newcastle could look to offload Willock this summer.

The 25-year-old is under contract with the Magpies until 2027, meaning this transfer window could present Newcastle with the ideal time to cash in if they decide to move him on, especially with Crystal Palace showing interest in Willock previously.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding his future, the midfielder shared an update on his current activities, attracting reactions from players across the league.

Premier League stars react to Joe Willock’s holiday update

The former Arsenal midfielder shared a glimpse of his summer break, posting several images on Instagram, including one of him back on the training pitch.

He captioned the post: “A good month” which prompted reactions from a number of Premier League stars.

Arsenal duo Saka and Declan Rice both liked the post, along with Newcastle teammate Joelinton.

Nottingham Forest winger Elanga, who has been strongly linked with a move to Newcastle this summer, also reacted by liking the update.

While Willock appears to be enjoying some downtime, his future at St James’ Park remains uncertain.

Despite making 41 appearances in all competitions, he registered only three goals and two assists, with none of those goals coming in the Premier League last term.

Newcastle fans have called for the Willock to be sold following a disappointing season, and their demands may yet be met.

The 25-year-old joined Newcastle from Arsenal in 2021 for £25million but is yet to sign an extension to the six-year deal he penned upon arrival.

With two years left on his current contract, this summer could represent an ideal opportunity for the Magpies to cash in if suitable offers arrive.

While Willock’s long-term future on Tyneside is in doubt, the club appear to be pushing ahead with plans to strengthen their squad.

Newcastle are close to finalising a deal for Elanga, with reports suggesting the fee could exceed £55million following an improved offer.

Former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown revealed that Elanga is eager to complete a move to Newcastle, with talks between the two clubs ongoing.

Having already missed out on targets such as Liam Delap and Joao Pedro, Newcastle seem determined not to lose out on the Swedish international, as they look to bolster their attacking options ahead of the new season.
