Calvin Ramsay ‘rejected rival offer’ to join Liverpool after source’s £6.5m reveal – pundit
Noel Whelan has suggested Calvin Ramsay may have snubbed rival interest to sign for Liverpool from Aberdeen.
The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, admitted it is “hard to compete” against the Merseyside giants in the transfer window.
As revealed by Football Insider on Friday (17 June), Ramsay, 18, is set to undergo a medical and finalise a move to Anfield after the clubs agreed transfer terms.

A recruitment source told this site the Reds will pay £4million, with £2.5million agreed in add-ons and bonuses.
Whelan insisted Liverpool will have had competition for the right-back’s capture.
However, he suggested Ramsay will have pushed for a move to Anfield.
Asked if he thought other teams were in for Ramsay: “Yeah. I think when you get certain clubs that come in for a battle, you’ve got a Liverpool team there, with the manager, the setup, the players that are already there, it’s hard to compete against.
“They can grow him. He can fit right into the squad, get that experience and become a better player. That comes from playing with better players and having a manager like Jurgen Klopp.
“Especially as young player as well because you know that you’re not developed quite enough right now. At such tender age of 18, you’ve still got a good four years to learn your trade.
“If you’re going to learn it, why not learn it by watching and playing with some of the best full-backs in the world.”

Ramsay broke through at Aberdeen during the 2020/21 season.
He played 39 times across all competitions for the Dons.
