Campbell makes ‘big’ Arsenal prediction after what Ramsdale has reportedly told pals

Kevin Campbell has told Arsenal fans they will have to wait to see their first glimpse of Aaron Ramsdale in the Premier League.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gunners and Everton striker predicted Mikel Arteta will snub the 23-year-old and stick with Bernd Leno for this weekend.

According to The Sun (September 5th), Ramsdale has told his friends he expects to start Saturday’s crunch clash against Norwich City.

The London club signed the England international from Sheffield United in a £30million last month.

His only appearance so far has come in the EFL Cup against West Brom.

When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs for his thoughts on Arteta’s team selection, Campbell said:

“I wouldn’t mind Ramsdale starting against Norwich but I don’t think he will. I’m pretty sure Bernd Leno will start.

“It is nailed on that Ramsdale is going to be number one. It is just a matter of time.

“A lot will depend on how Leno marshals the defence moving forward. That backline is completely new. None of them have played together if you factor in [Takehiro] Tomiyasu and Ben White. How are they going to gel? The goalkeeper has a big part to play in that.

“If Leno shows weakness in his communication over the next few weeks Ramsdale will be in.

“If it was me, I’d get my best defence out there and play them every week.”
