Campbell thrilled by update on Arsenal bid to sign ‘amazing’ Fekir after rival deal agreed

Kevin Campbell has urged Arsenal to turn their attention to Real Betis attacker Nabil Fekir after losing out on Emiliano Buendia this week.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gunners and Everton striker heaped praise on the “special” 27-year-old who he claimed would be coming to the Premier League with a point to prove.

Aston Villa confirmed they have reached an agreement with Norwich City for the transfer of Buendia on Monday.

As revealed by Football Insider on 6 June, the 24-year-old was also a top target of Arsenal but their bid of £30-million+ was not enough to secure his services.

According to Goal’s Charles Watts, Real Betis playmaker Fekir is seen as an alternative to Buendia.

The France international is said to be keen on a move to the Premier League this summer, three years on from the collapse of his transfer to Liverpool on medical grounds.

When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs if Fekir should be the Gunners’ next target, Campbell said: “Big time.

“I am telling you, this guy is amazing. I have watched him for two seasons now and he has so much talent. He is a special player.

“He would be coming here as a a bit of an unknown as well which I like. I know people know of him but they perhaps haven’t seen a lot of him. He is a such a handful, he really is.

“We all know what happened with Liverpool so I am sure he would be desperate to come to the Premier League to show people what he’s about and to prove a few people wrong.”
