Carlos Miguel packs his bags and heads in for Nottingham Forest medical – sources

Nottingham Forest are in advanced talks to sign Corinthians goalkeeper Carlos Miguel and he is primed to undergo a medical in the next days, sources have told Football Insider

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed the deal for the Brazilian is close to being completed at the City Ground.

Forest have now triggered the 25-year-old’s £3.4million release clause as they look to secure his services for next season.

A full agreement is close to being secured, with Miguel on stand-by to jet into the UK to undergo a medical.

O’Rourke revealed bringing in a new shot-stopper and a striker are two areas the Premier League club have prioritised this summer after securing their place in the top flight for another campaign.

Miguel’s contract with the Brazilian side is due to expire in December 2025.

Carlos Miguel could make Nottingham Forest move after goalkeeping issues

Forest have faced various issues in the goalkeeping department since securing their return to the Premier League two years ago.

Matt Turner, Odysseas Vlachodimos and Matz Sels were all given opportunities to impress last season, but the trio only managed to keep four clean sheets between them in the Premier League.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side are now closing in on a deal to bring Miguel to the City Ground as they look to add to their goalkeeping options.

After previously being a backup at Corinthians, the Brazilian has emerged as the club’s No.1 in recent months, having kept seven clean sheets in 14 appearances this season.

Forest are also plotting a potential move to sign Southampton forward Che Adams on a free transfer when his contract runs out later this month.

Football Insider revealed on 16 June the Nottingham club could hijack Wolves’ deal for the 27-year-old after they have made him a contract offer in recent weeks.
