Celtic look set to secure the signing of ‘priority’ target Arne Engels as a replacement for departed Matt O’Riley, sources have told Football Insider.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that Celtic the 20-year-old is one of two new midfielders that Brendan Rodgers is expected to bring in before the transfer window closes.

Arne Engels deal a ‘coup’ for Celtic and Scottish football
Bundesliga side Augsburg only signed Engels last summer, but the Belgium Under-21 international’s value skyrocketed after an impressive debut season in Germany, where he played 32 league games and scored three goals.
A move to Scotland would see him replace O’Riley, who Celtic sold to Brighton last week in a record-breaking £25 million deal.
Rodger’s side have started the season where they left off last campaign, winning all three of their Scottish Premier League games without conceding a goal.
The Scottish Champions are also intent on bolstering their attack as they seek to compete in this season’s Champions League.
