Celtic contract ‘priority’ revealed after ‘incredible’ Tom Rogic transformation – pundit

Celtic will make a contract renewal for Tom Rogic a “high priority” after his transformation under Ange Postecoglou, according to Alex McLeish.

The former Scotland manager, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, hailed the 29-year-old’s “incredible” recent form.

Speaking earlier this year and quoted by the Scottish Sun (6 February), Postecoglou stated talks over a new deal for his countryman are “the last thing on my mind”.

Rogic’s current Celtic deal is set to expire in May 2023.

The 51-time Australia international has notched six goals and 10 assists in 43 appearances this term.

McLeish hailed Rogic for his recovery after a muted campaign in 2020/21.

“He’s been the bane of everybody recently, but he was invisible for a big period,” he told Football Insider‘s Russell Edge.

“It’s taken his countryman, Postecoglou, to come in and show the faith in him again.

“And he’s rewarded his gaffer with some incredible performances.

“I would have thought Celtic would make it a high priority to get Tom on board for a few more seasons.

Rogic joined the Hoops in 2013 and has netted 46 goals in 265 games.

The Australian has claimed 16 trophies during his time at the club, including six Scottish Premiership titles.
