Celtic expert on Brendan Rodgers landing Tottenham job – ‘that’s his kind of team’

Frank McAvennie has claimed Brendan Rodgers is the perfect man to take over at Tottenham.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Celtic and West Ham striker said Rodgers is the manager who could get the best out of the players at Spurs.

On 2 April, Leicester City confirmed that they had parted ways with the 50-year-old following a poor run of results that sees them struggling at the bottom end of the table.

Yesterday (9 April), Football Insider revealed that the former Leicester boss has a “good chance” of landing the job at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Just after he was sacked by the Foxes, sources told this site that the Lilywhites are sounding out Rodgers as a permanent replacement for Antonio Conte.

Chairman Daniel Levy is believed to be a long-term admirer of Rodgers and was Levy’s “preferred choice” to replace Harry Redknapp back in 2012.

McAvennie has backed the former Celtic boss to take over at the London club.

I think Brendan Rodgers would be a great manager for them,” he told Football Insider.

That is his kind of team. He has got the players there and he would get them playing better.

Tottenham

I do not know what happened at Leicester but Brendan is a good manager, a really good manager and he can get the best out of players.

There is no way Leicester would have gone down. I think a club like Tottenham, Brendan would be a good manager. It is his stature, he is good enough to go there. He is one of the best coaches and I think they would take to him.
