‘Obvious bias’ – Celtic fans cry conspiracy over flashpoint in win v Rangers
Celtic fans have cried foul over Jozo Simunovic’s red card in Sunday’s Old Firm win over Rangers – and belief the assistant referee is biased against their side.
Conservative MP Douglas Ross ran the line on the Sandy Jardine stand side and flagged when Simunovic laid out Alfredo Morelos with a what appeared to be a deliberate elbow in the second-half of the 3-2 win.
Hoops fans think Ross was out to punish Celtic – and think footage of him instructing referee Willie Collum to dismiss Simunovic is part of some anti-Celtic conspiracy.
Here are some of their comments on Twitter:
The win over Rangers took Celtic to nine points clear of their bitter rivals at the top of the Scottish Premiership as they look to win a seventh successive Scottish Premiership and win an unprecedented back-to-back domestic treble.
Brendan Rodgers’ side have only lost two domestic games since the former Liverpool manager arrived in Scotland in the summer of 2016 but – as inexplicable as it may seem – there is a genuine belief there is an anti-Celtic agenda at play within Scottish football and beyond.
The Hoops will now look to wrap up the title as soon as possible so they can relax and put their focus on preparing for next season.
