Celtic fans on Twitter have lost their minds with excitement after West Brom and Republic of Ireland winger James McClean declared that he would do whatever it takes to move to Parkhead in the future.

McClean, 28, is widely adored by the Hoops faithful for his undying support for the Scottish champions and the alignment of his political and religious beliefs.

In an interview with magazine Celtic View this week, the Derry-born winger admitted that he would be willing to give up Premier League football in order to turn out for the Bhoys after witnessing the 2-1 win against Barcelona in 2012.

“I remember saying to my wife, while I have always wanted to play for Celtic, I wanted to do it even more so that night,” he said to magazine the Celtic View, as shown by Celtic head of marketing Kerry Keenan on her personal Twitter account on Wednesday.

“I’m a Premier League footballer and leaving the ground that night, I was thinking I would give anything to play for Celtic.”

McClean’s huge admission has understandably caused a reaction from Bhoys fans on Twitter who would love to see the Republic of Ireland flyer transfer to the club.

The Scottish Premiership leaders have as good a chance as any if they really want to sign McClean as the Telegraph has recently reported that West Brom are considering selling the 28-year-old in order to strengthen their squad elsewhere.

It was understood that Burnley had an £8million turned down for the Republic of Ireland star in the summer but the Baggies could see if the Clarets would still be interested in January as they look to sign Ben Mee.

McClean has made 16 appearances across all competitions for Albion this season only three of those have been starts in the Premier League.

In other Celtic news, this prolific striker is on the verge of a January transfer after being on the Bhoys’ radar.
