‘Shocked’ – Celtic fans react as Rodgers axes midfielder ahead of clash v Hamilton

By Danny Wright

Celtic fans have been left scratching their heads after Oliver Ntcham was left out of the starting line-up to face Hamilton at the SuperSeal Stadium on Friday night.

The Hoops announced on their official Twitter account prior to kick-off that Ntcham, 21, had been axed from Brendan Rodgers’ starting XI for the clash with the Accies despite him being ever-present during August.

The summer signing was substituted off at half-time in Celtic’s last Scottish Premiership game before the international break and before that he scored two goals in two appearances against Astana in the Champions League and Partick Thistle.

The Bhoys’ line-up to face Hamilton has raised a lot of questions, especially with the formation, but some are in the belief that French midfielder Ntcham should have been starting.

Here is a selection of their tweets:

Ntcham was signed from Manchester City during the summer transfer window and hasn’t taken long to earn the affection of the Celtic supporters due to his fine form in the centre of midfield.

He has made eight appearances in all competitions so far this term and it seems that Rodgers is keen on resting him before Tuesday’s big match with Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League group stages.
