Celtic must go for jugular and unleash striking pair against Rangers
COMMENT
The most intriguing aspect of Celtic’s 3-0 Scottish Cup quarter-final win over Morton was the second-half performance of Odsonne Edouard.
The 20-year-old Frenchman replaced Scott Sinclair at half-time, and helped to transform the game. He won a penalty, scored the third goal, and his all-round game caused the Greenock side no end of problems.
He and Moussa Dembele linked up well together, and some of the Bhoys’ best recent performances have come when the two have played, such as in the 3-1 win over Hearts in January.
With the Old Firm game against Rangers only a week away, Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers has to consider player the pair in the game at Ibrox.
It is a game which the Hoops do not have to win, and Rangers will be coming out all guns blazing to get the win that will keep the title race alive, and Dembele and Edouard could cause havoc on the break.
Of course, perhaps the Bhoys may want to go out and prove a point by stamping their authority all over the game, which is why both players should start.
It’s a day for the Hoops to show why they are the best team in Scotland, and starting the French duo up-front would go a long way towards that.
In other Celtic news, the Hoops have been linked with a move for Wigan’s Nick Powell
