Celtic, Liverpool stars react to Kyogo Furuhashi Birmingham transfer announcement
Celtic and Liverpool stars joined plenty across the footballing world with their reactions after Kyogo Furuhashi joined Birmingham City.
The Japanese striker lit up the Scottish Premiership during his three and a half year long spell with the Hoops, scoring 86 goals in 187 appearances across all competitions.
Furuhashi made the move to join Rennes in January, with Jota heading back to Celtic in a separate deal that saw the Scottish and French sides swap attacking options.
But the 30-year-old endured a miserable time in Ligue 1, making just six appearances without registering a goal involvement.
This led to links of Furuhashi returning to Celtic that were only exacerbated by Jota‘s devastating injury near the end of the season.

Kyogo Furuhashi joins Birmingham after record-breaking season
Birmingham claimed the highest points total of an EFL club ever last season, winning League One with 111 points.
And the Midlands side have now added an exciting striking option to Chris Davies’ side by signing Furuhashi from Rennes.
The Blues shared a post of their new signing on Instagram in a post captioned: “Japanese international. 8 domestic trophies with Celtic. Champions League experience. A serious, serious signing. Welcome, Kyogo Furuhashi.”
The post was liked by Wataru Endo, Nicolas Kuhn, Matt O’Riley and fellow Birmingham new boy Tommy Doyle.

Football Insider Verdict
The Blues have made a flying start to their summer transfer window, adding plenty of top-level talent to the squad that romped to League One’s top spot last season.
Demarai Gray has returned to Birmingham and with the additions of Furuhashi and Doyle, Davies has plenty of star power at his disposal.
Despite the excitement surrounding Jay Stansfield after his record-breaking move from Fulham, the England Under-21 international scored just 10 non-penalty goals in League One in the 2024/25 campaign.
Adding a player who has the ability to play in a top division in Europe, in the form of Furuhashi, is a signal of Birmingham’s intent.
The Blues may have only just reclaimed their place in England’s second tier, but the club clearly see their future in the Premier League, and their summer business shows that.
