Celtic news: ‘Incredible’ claim issued by Rangers man after what he’s seen

Alan Hutton was blown away by the total dominance of Celtic in Saturday’s 7-0 win over St Johnstone.

The former Rangers star, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, admitted he could hardly believe the “incredible” statistics that emerged after the “mauling” at Parkhead.

The Bhoys ran riot against the Saints, with six different players on the scoresheet for Ange Postecoglou’s men.

As detailed by WhoScored, Celtic had 83.9 per cent possession, completed 893 of an attempted 963 passes and had 1,117 touches.

Hutton was dazzled by the Bhoys’s display and admitted they are hitting form at exactly the right time in their push for another domestic treble.

“They’re definitely heating up at the right moment in time,” Hutton told Football Insider’s Russell Edge.

“They’re going from strength to strength. Probably the standout at the moment as well is not only their attacking prowess, it’s how they’re defending as well.

“Against Rangers, they were very good defensively, out with the goal. St Johnstone didn’t even get a shot on target. I mean, did you see the stats?

“84 per cent possession, 960-odd passes they had, which is incredible, 1,100 touches. Honestly, it was an absolute mauling.

“They’re definitely heating up at the right moment in time. The spread of goals across the whole team, as well as the likes of Kyogo coming back, Turnbull coming back, it’s all helping. It’s all momentum for them moving forward.”

Matt O’Riley netted twice within the space of three minutes for the Bhoys at Parkhead.
