Campbell: Kenny can be a Celtic sensation

Everton’s Jonjoe Kenny has got “so much quality” and can “really show off” during his loan spell with Celtic.

That is according to former Premier League goalscorer Kevin Campbell, speaking exclusively to Football Insider after the right-back made his Hoops debut in the 4-0 win over Kilmarnock on Tuesday.

The 23-year-old completed his switch to Parkhead on deadline day as a replacement for the outgoing Jeremie Frimpong, who joined Bayer Leverkusen in an £11.5million deal earlier in the window.

Kenny has started just once in the league for Everton in 2020-21 and Carlo Ancelotti, quoted in the Scottish Sun, said it would be best to: “give him the opportunity to play for six months to see what happens and he will be back in the summer.”

And Campbell believes the Liverpool-born defender has the necessary ability to succeed in his fourth loan spell away from Goodison Park.

“You’d like to think he can really show off what he can do in Scotland,” he told Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs.

“They [Celtic] are one of the strongest teams up there and he’s got so much quality that he can bring to the table.

“He’s had a good start to his Celtic career, but the key to it is consistency. You’ve got to stay consistent.”

Kenny spent last season with Bundesliga outfit Schalke where he played 34 times and scored two goals.

He enjoyed a breakthrough campaign with the Toffees in 2017-18 when he played 28 times across all competition but has since struggled for first-team football since.

In other news, Alex Mcleish has said Olivier Ntcham must have “some agent” to have secured his loan deal from Celtic to Marseille.
