Kenny tips Ntcham to sparkle at Celtic next season after ‘huge’ twist

Olivier Ntcham has the talent to put his awful loan spell in Marseille behind him and shine for Celtic next season.

That is according to ex-Premier League goalkeeper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider after John Kennedy was quoted in the Sun appearing to offer the midfielder a lifeline.

The interim Hoops boss said Ntcham “could be a big part of the club moving forward because he’s a talented player”.

That comes after this site revealed that the 25-year-old has set his sights firmly on leaving Celtic permanently in the summer.

Ntcham has struggled in southern France, making just six appearances after his arrival at the club in January was mired by controversy.

But Kenny argues that Ntcham could play a “big role” for Celtic next season if he changes his mind on his Parkhead future.

“Marseille are no pushovers,” he told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams.

“They are a huge club, so they must have seen something in him.

“When he does come back, he could get some confidence and produce some better performances for Celtic and play a huge role.

“When you have an atmosphere like that when he arrived, it’s difficult for any player, especially at a new club.

“He can start next season afresh and help give Rangers a run for their money for the title next season.”

Celtic signed Ntcham from Man City in a £4.5million deal in July 2017.

He has gone on to make 147 appearances and win eight titles in Glasgow, scoring 24 times in the process.
