Celtic told to accept Maik Nawrocki offer- expert
Celtic have been told to accept an offer for Maik Nawrocki in a bid to raise funds to bring in a new defender to replace him this summer.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Celtic striker Frank McAvennie insisted that, if Nawroci, 23, isn’t going to get regular game time, he should be sold and the money reinvested.
However, he explained that if the club don’t want to bring in a new defender, they should hand the centre-back more game time ahead of Liam Scales.
McAvennie also told Football Insider before the January transfer window that the Polish defender should be sold as Brendan Rodgers “doesn’t like” him.
Celtic told they must sell Maik Nawrocki this summer
Nawrocki made just 14 appearances for Celtic this season, with only nine of those coming in the league, as he has become surplus to requirements at Parkhead.
However, McAvennie insists he could be handed more regular game time with the club unsure about spending transfer funds on a new option in defence.
“If you’re not going to buy a centre-half, you’ve got to play him,” he told Football Insider.
“Nawrocki is a Poland international. I mean, that’s a big step. I know Scales is an Irish international, but whenever I see Nawrocki I think he’s a good player.
“I don’t know what he’s doing in training for him not to get a shout.
“I can understand with Scales, he’s full-hearted going into tackles, he’ll be doing that in training and it’s obviously catching the manager’s eye.
“But in a game, it’s different. You’ve got to be aware of what’s around you and sometimes Scales doesn’t know. Greg Taylor’s the same.

“Unless Nawrocki steps up, they’ve got to accept an offer, get rid of him and raise some money to bring players in.”
In other news, James Tavernier could be set to quit Rangers this summer.
