Charlie Nicholas predicts Tottenham v Arsenal clash
By Dominic Toner
Charlie Nicholas has predicted Tottenham to draw 2-2 when they host Arsenal on Sunday.
Spurs welcome their fierce north London rivals to White Hart Lane at the weekend for a crucial Premier League fixture.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side are desperate for maximum points as they try to win the title, but must overturn a four-point gap to leaders Chelsea.
Meanwhile, the Gunners are in the race for the top-four positions and will miss out on Champions League football as it stands.
The two sides played out a 1-1 draw in the previous meeting this season, but Spurs’ home form will make them slight favourites this time around.
Sky Sports pundit Nicholas has backed another draw between the teams and is expecting a fiery encounter.
“It’s a must-win for both sides, and I’d be surprised if there wasn’t plenty of yellow cards and a sending off,” Nicholas told Sky Sports. “For the first 20 minutes Spurs will be all over Arsenal but Wenger’s new formation provides more of a solid structure to cope with it.
“If Tottenham score in the first 20-25 minutes they’ll win the game, maybe even 3-0 or 4-0, but after that, as it so often is in north London derbies, anything could happen. Yes Tottenham have the best manager in the country in Mauricio Pochettino and the best team right now but I’ve got to believe that Arsenal are still capable of causing them problems.”
Spurs go into the game on the back of eight consecutive victories and they are the in-form team in the division.
They will be hoping Chelsea slip up away to Everton on Sunday afternoon, leaving them with the opportunity to make up ground at the top of the table.
Pochettino’s team have set-up a fascinating climax to the end of the season and rivals Arsenal will be desperate to dent Spurs’ title chances.
