‘Chelsea to sell Robert Sanchez’ – Fans erupt amid Jorgensen and Petrovic news

Chelsea must sell Robert Sanchez following an update on the club’s summer transfer plans for their goalkeeping department, fans of the club are insisting.

The Spaniard moved to Stanford Bridge back in the summer of 2023 when he signed from Brighton, taking over the number one spot between the posts for the Blues.

However, Sanchez has come under fire for a number of errors that have cost Chelsea throughout his time with the club.

That recently prompted a change with Filip Jorgensen taking over as first choice for Enzo Maresca’s side in goal.

Chelsea make goalkeeper plan amid ongoing errors

Unfortunately for Maresca and co. the errors have continued despite a change in name between the posts.

Jorgensen was at fault for the late winner Chelsea conceded to Aston Villa last Saturday (22 February) that dealt a blow to their hopes of Champions League qualification this season.

Even so, it appears that the club will not be making any additions in that department in the near future.

According to an update from BBC Sport journalist Nizaar Kinsella, the Blues are not planning to sign a new goalkeeper in the summer transfer window.

Instead it is expected that Sanchez and Jorgensen will compete for the number one spot with former starter Djorde Petrovic.

The Serbian international is currently on loan with French top-flight side Strasbourg, and has already gained top-flight experience with Chelsea.

Highly-rated Genk goalkeeper Mike Penders is also due to complete a move to Stamford Bridge in the summer to add another potential option between the posts for Maresca‘s side.

Robert Sanchez sale demanded by fans after transfer update

Taking to X to respond to that update on their side’s plans for their goalkeeping department come the summer, many Chelsea fans were keen to outline how they would like to see the situation play out.

If no new goalkeeper is added at Stamford Bridge, then Petrovic appears to be the preferred option to operate as first-choice between the posts by many fans.

Meanwhile, a significant number also appear keen to see Sanchez depart the club even if no new goalkeeper is signed, unable to accept him being in the running to be first choice for a third season

That is despite the fact he still has a contract at Chelsea until the end of the 2029/30 season, suggesting many supporters have already lost faith with him.
