Chris Sutton: Celtic 20-year-old won’t see out his contract
By Dominic Toner
Chris Sutton does not think that Celtic sensation Moussa Dembele will see out his contract with the Scottish giants.
The 20-year-old is set to stay with the Bhoys until May 2020, but Sutton believes he will be gone before then.
Dembele has emerged as one of the best upcoming talents in Europe and has thrived since his summer move to Scotland.
The Frenchman has scored 27 goals in just 41 appearances across all competitions and has been an automatic selection for Brendan Rodgers.
He has been tipped with a big-money move way from Celtic as Europe’s elite clubs circle and Sutton does not expect Dembele to see out the remainder of his deal.
“It’s great to hear that he’s got his mind fixed on seeing his four-year contract out,” Sutton wrote in the Daily Record. “That’s not going to happen, but it’s a good thing that he is thinking along those lines.”
However, Sutton does feel that he should remain with Celtic for the near future to continue his development.
“Dembele would be better served staying at the club for at least another year and a half,” he said.
Dembele has already won a piece of silverware with the Bhoys this season and could complete a domestic treble by the end of the campaign.
He has been a crucial part of the team’s success and has managed to dislodge Leigh Griffiths as the first-choice forward option.
The striker has recently scored back-to-back hat-tricks for Celtic and is in the form of his life.
