Chris Sutton has expressed his delight on Twitter after Celtic recently announced that captain Scott Brown and defender Jozo Simunovic had extended their contracts with the club.

The Hoops confirmed that the duo had signed new deals on their official Twitter account on Monday afternoon, just over 24 hours before their highly anticipated Champions League group stage clash against Paris Saint-Germain.

Former Celtic star turned football broadcaster Sutton believes that the announcement has come just at the right time and will act as a “great boost” ahead of the Hoops “biggest game of the week”.

The BT Sport pundit shared his views on his personal Twitter account shortly after the announcement was made on Monday.

Fans and fellow Celtic team mates will be thrilled to have their experienced captain at the club for a further two years after he extended his contract to 2019.

The 32-year-old has been at the club for over a decade and his maturity will no doubt be needed as the club aim to replicate last season’s success, and Brown will be the right person to do so as he has made 427 appearances for the Bhoys across all competitions where he has also netted 37 goals and provided 56 assists.

Centre-back Simunovic, 23, has penned his signature with the club to stay at Parkhead for a further four years which will keep him at the club until 2021.
