'What a boost', 'Tremendous' - Celtic fans react as club agree terms with duo

Celtic has confirmed that club captain Scott Brown and centre-back Jozo Simunovic have agreed terms to sign new deals to extend their stay at Parkhead.

Experienced skipper Brown, 32, has signed a new two-year-deal which will see him remain at the Glaswegian club until 2019 while Simunovic, 23, has penned a new four-year-contract with the Hoops, keeping him tied down until 2021.

The club announced the news on their official website in a statement which revealed that the duo have “secured new deals”.

Fans were delighted by the news and took straight to social media to express their excitement over the contract extensions and many supporters saw the announcement as a massive boost before their Champions League clash against Paris Saint-Germain which takes place on Tuesday.

Brown has become an integral part of the Celtic squad and has been at the side for a decade after joining from Hibernian back in 2007.

As well as being named captain, the Scotsman has made an impressive 427 appearances for the club across all competitions where he has scored 37 goals and secured 56 assists.

Team mate Simunovic joined more recently in 2015 from Dynamo Zagreb and has made a total of 58 appearances for the Bhoys.
