Chris Sutton takes mammoth swipe at Rangers after draw v Celtic

Although he admits it was a good result for Rangers, Chris Sutton has taken a mammoth swipe at the Light Blues for their 0-0 draw against Celtic in the final Old Firm fixture of 2017 on Saturday.

In a frenetic, end-to-end game, Graeme Murty ensured that the Gers would avoid defeat to the Bhoys for just the second time since their return to the Scottish Premiership as both goalkeepers stood out with a series of brilliant saves.

BT Sport pundit Sutton, who used to play for Celtic, admitted that Rangers did well to earn a point at Parkhead, however he still claimed that it was the best result in the Ibrox club’s history in a bid to dampen to fans’ spirits.

“Well done I’ve said! One of the greatest results in Rangers history,” he said on his personal Twitter account when heckled by a Gers fan for predicting a 3-1 win for Brendan Rodgers’ side.

Both Rangers and Celtic had plenty of chances to score on Saturday with Scott Sinclair and Alfredo Morelos both missing golden opportunities to break the deadlock at both ends of the pitch.

Wes Foderingham and Craig Gordon were also in superb form to deny each of the Glasgow attacks.

As a result of Saturday’s draw, Rodgers’ side moved nine points clear at the top of the Premiership table, although Aberdeen can close down that gap to six if they beat Hearts.

Murty’s men stay third and are two points behind the Dons while Hibernian are six points behind them.
