Christiansen raves about ‘perfect’ Leeds player in win v Bristol City
By Danny Wright
Thomas Christiansen has claimed that Ronaldo Vieira was “perfect” in Leeds United’s 3-0 win over Bristol City at Ashton Gate on Saturday.
Vieira, 19, was handed his first start of the Championship season as the Whites got back to winning ways following a three-games losing streak that saw them lose their lead at the top of the table.
Leeds are back up to fourth, above Bristol City, thanks to their win on Saturday, and Christiansen believes that Vieira deserves a tonne of praise for his performance in the heart of the midfield.
When asked by BBC Radio Leeds about who stood out for him against the Robins after the game, Christiansen was shown on the BBC website as saying: “I believe Ronny [Vieira] was absolutely perfect.
“He had the possibility today to prove that he’s back and I’m very happy to have this player with me.”
Vieira joined Eunan O’Kane and Kalvin Phillips in a central midfield trio against Lee Johnson’s side as Christiansen decided to switch up his tactics to try and arrest the side’s slump in form.
The Dane admitted in his post-match interview with BBC Radio Leeds that his tactical decision paid off in the end.
“I wanted to make the team a little bit stronger in the middle and decided to take Samu [Saiz] a little bit out on the side and it worked perfectly,” he added.
Saiz scored a first-half brace in what was a brilliant performance from the Whites with some fans even hailing it as their best display of the season.
Next up for Leeds is a testing trip to Premier League side Leicester City in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night.
