Christopher Nkunku cited as Liverpool told to complete ‘huge’ January signing – pundit
Noel Whelan has backed Liverpool to seal an advanced deal for Jude Bellingham in January as the Merseysiders free up funds for a big-money addition.
The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, cited Chelsea’s reported out-of-window deal for RB Leipzig star Christopher Nkunku.
Football Insider revealed on Tuesday (4 October) that Liverpool owners Fenway Sports Group are willing to fund an A-list acquisition in January should Jurgen Klopp and the recruitment team source the right player.

The Reds’ most recently published accounts revealed assets of £160.7million.
This site has also revealed (1 October) talks held between Liverpool and Jude Bellingham and the Merseysiders are confident they have laid the groundwork to a potential club-record deal next year.
There is a stampede of interest in the midfielder, 19, including Premier League rivals Man City, Chelsea and Man United as well as the leading teams in Europe.
Whelan suggested a £100million January move could help Liverpool beat their rivals to Bellingham.
He told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “Their midfield is a concern.
“That’s where they’ve got to be freshening up. There’s a signing been made by Chelsea, Christopher Nkunku – he’s ready for next season.
“Why can’t they go out and do that with Jude Bellingham? There’s got to be a door open for that negotiation to happen.
“£100m would probably get him, and if they want to beat these other sides to get him – Liverpool have to be first in the queue.
“It would be catastrophic if they missed out on him because he’s that perfect next generation of midfielder who can drive Liverpool forward.

“If there’s an opportunity to get it done, then great.
“Midfield is a massive must for me – Liverpool have got to bring some new blood into that area.”
