Club grow frustrated with Tottenham in move for priority target – report

By Harvey Byrne

Manchester City have grown frustrated by Tottenham’s valuation of priority target Kyle Walker, according to a report.

The Independent have claimed on their website that Spurs value the 27-year-old as highly as £50million and that chairman Daniel Levy knows he has no reason to sell this summer.

But, this is understood to have put a halt in any deal with the report stating that unless City give in to the north London club’s demands then this could become one of the summer’s biggest transfer sagas.

Levy is known to be a tough negotiator, especially when it comes to departing players with the club netting a huge £150million alone from trio Gareth Bale, Luka Modric and Dimitar Berbatov under his stewardship.

The £50million for Walker would only be beaten by Bale in the list of players who have departed White Hart Lane in the past with the Welshman leaving for a then world record £86.3million to Real Madrid in 2013.

But, with four years still remaining on his Tottenham contract which he only agreed to in September all of the power has been placed in Levy’s hands in this deal.

Football Insider verdict:

Despite being left out towards the back end of the last campaign there is no doubt that Walker is worth a lot a money to Tottenham. The transfer market is also inflating each year and for an England international £50million is possibly the going rate for a player of Walker’s ability this year. The right-back only joined for £9million from Sheffield Untied alongside Kyle Naughton in 2009, so if Spurs are able to make a £43million profit just eight years later then it will present a very good piece of business for Tottenham and they will be able to go out and spend on a younger up and coming player.

In other Tottenham transfer news, Spurs are clear favourites to sign this £30million international.
