Confirmed: Defender set for medical after Liverpool agree fee

Derby have confirmed they have agreed an undisclosed fee with Liverpool for defender Andre Wisdom.
A statement on the Rams’ official club website on Friday evening announced that the 24-year-old has “agreed personal terms” ahead of a move away from Anfield and “will take part in a medical examination” before the end of this month.
The Daily Telegraph’s Midlands football journalist John Percy reported earlier this week that the initial fee agreed between the two clubs is £2million and could rise as high as £4.5million.
It wasn’t all plain sailing for Derby though as the Telegraph had previously reported that they had a £1million bid for Wisdom rejected by Liverpool in the early stages of negotiations.
Wisdom, who can play as a centre-back or right-back, has spent his entire career at Liverpool but has only made 22 first-team appearances for them.
He has spent a lot of time out on loan though, having spells with Derby, West Brom, Norwich and most recently Red Bull Salzburg in Austria.
The former England Under-21 international enjoyed a brilliant spell at Pride Park in 2013/14 when he made 38 appearances across all competitions and supplied three assists.

It’s good that Liverpool are finally beginning to ship out some of their deadwood. Jurgen Klopp has freed up a decent amount of money with this sale which he can use towards bolstering his wage budget to attract some big names to Anfield this summer. There’s no doubt that Liverpool fans won’t be gutted about losing Wisdom. His loan spell at West Brom showed that he isn’t up to Premier League standards, let alone the level of a Champions League team. He is held in high esteem at Pride Park, so the Rams fans will be delighted with the news.
