Confirmed: Tottenham sensation promoted to the first team to face Boro
By Dominic Toner
Marcus Edwards travelled with the Tottenham squad to face Middlesbrough after the club showed him getting off the team bus on Saturday.
Spurs shared the video on their official Twitter account of the young sensation with the first-team and he could now make his first Premier League appearance.
The 18-year-old has been out of action since October with an ankle injury and has seen his progression into the first-team stall.
However, the right winger recently return to training and he is rated as one of Spurs’ best emerging youngsters at White Hart Lane.
His promotion to the first-team set-up does not guarantee he will be in the matchday 18 against Boro but demonstrates the esteem with which he is now held by manager Mauricio Pochettino and his coaching staff.
The attacker made his senior Spurs debut this season in the EFL Cup victory against Gillingham in September and is tipped to become a regular in the future.
He is blessed with incredible skill and will be hoping to compete for a spot alongside the likes of Erik Lamela, Christian Eriksen, Moussa Sissoko and Georges-Kevin N’Koudou.
Spurs will be looking to close the 12-point gap to leaders Chelsea after they beat rivals Arsenal earlier on Saturday.
Pochettino is building a young English core of players at the north London club and Edwards could be the next one off the long production line.
