‘Conor Gallagher makes Newcastle transfer decision’ after £50m reveal
Conor Gallagher would be open to a return to the Premier League this summer amid interest from the likes of Newcastle and Aston Villa.
That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that the 25-year-old wants to play regularly ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
As a result, the opportunity to return to the Premier League is believed to be of interest to the midfielder amid ongoing speculation about his future at Atletico Madrid.
Football Insider revealed on 14 July that Aston Villa have joined Everton and Newcastle in their pursuit of Gallagher and are keeping an eye on his situation.
However, Football Insider exclusively revealed on 13 July that Atletico will demand £50million to sell Gallagher after paying around £33million for him last summer.
Diego Simeone’s side are not actively looking to sell the former Chelsea star as he still has a role to play, but could be tempted to sell for the right offer.

Conor Gallagher eyes Premier League return after Newcastle update
Brown told Football Insider on 10 July that Newcastle are interested in signing Gallagher as Eddie Howe is a big fan of his and plans to strengthen his midfield.
The former scout, who remains very well-connected within the game after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, insisted that the midfielder has now opened the door for a return to the Premier League.
“Gallagher would be very much interested in a return to England,” he told Football Insider.
“Everything being equal, if he had the chance to join Newcastle this summer, I believe he would do.
“Things don’t quite seem to have clicked for him in Spain, even though they rate him highly over there and the manager like what he brings.
“He’ll have one eye on the World Cup next year and he knows he has to play regularly to get into that England squad, but he’s not doing that at Atletico.
“So from what I hear, the chance to come back to the Premier League is certainly appealing.
“But it will depend on what these clubs are willing to pay for him.
“I can’t imagine it will be a cheap deal after one year at the club, so they’ll have to set an asking price and see how much these clubs do want him.
“At the moment, I wouldn’t be surprised either way if he stays in Spain or comes back to the Premier League, whoever that may be with.”

Harvey Elliott to make Liverpool exit decision
Gallagher is not the only England hopeful who Newcastle have set their sights on this summer, as Harvey Elliott has emerged as a target in recent days.
Brown told Football Insider that Newcastle are tracking Elliott’s situation at Liverpool and are prepared to rival the likes of Tottenham and Fulham for his signature.
Football Insider revealed on 2 July that Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig want Elliott and are prepared to rival Premier League outfits in their pursuit.
The England Under-21 star is expected to make a decision about his future later in the window after carefully considering all of his options.
