Rangers fans need to cut down the criticism after star's howling error

COMMENT
Wes Foderingham made a huge blunder against Ayr United which gifted the League One high-flyers the opening goal in the 6-1 Scottish Cup demolition by Rangers – but some of the criticism of the Gers number one is over the top.
Foderingham made a complete mess of a back pass from David Bates allowing Alan Forrest – brother of Celtic star James – to poke the ball home and leave the Gers shot-stopper red-faced.
It ended up counting for nothing as the Gers fired five second-half goals after Alfredo Morelos pulled them level before the break.
The former Swindon star has been a huge player for the Gers since arriving at Ibrox in 2015 and while he should rightly be criticised for his error some of the stuff on social media has been ridiculous.
Graeme Murty’s side have one of the best defensive records in the country this season with Foderingham being a big part of that with big performances in a number of games.
The error seemed to rattle the keeper’s confidence with another mistake coming soon after before he settled down and looked more like his usual self.
Rangers fans will likely have to thank Foderingham for rescuing their side a few times before the end of the season so going overboard with the criticism for a mistake in a 6-1 win seems a bit crazy.
