Dan Burn sends ‘incredible’ Newcastle message, Kieran Trippier reacts

Dan Burn shared an emotional message following an unforgettable few weeks for the Newcastle defender.

The 32-year-old has been an incredible last few weeks, as he was called into a Three Lions squad for the first time in his career.

On 16 March, Burn etched his name into Newcastle folklore by scoring the opener in their Carabao Cup final victory over Liverpool, an unforgettable moment for the boyhood Magpies fan.

His dream spell continued on 21 March when he made his international debut, playing the full 90 minutes as England secured a 2-0 win over Albania in their opening 2026 World Cup qualifier.

Burn’s England performance earned widespread praise, with pundits and fans alike impressed by his composure and defensive contributions.

While plenty of his teammates have congratulated him, Burn had a heartfelt message of his own for supporters on social media.

Dan Burn hails ‘incredible’ support after unforgettable England debut

Burn took to Instagram to reflect on a historic week, writing: “As a proud Geordie and a proud Englishman, I’ve had worse weeks.

“Thank you so much for the incredible support. See you all Saturday. Howay the lads.”

The post quickly gained traction, with teammates Tino Livramento, Kieran Trippier, and Lewis Hall among those showing their support.

Trippier also sent a message to Burn following his England call-up, despite not making Thomas Tuchel’s squad himself. However, with Reece James delivering a standout performance, there was little room for debate over the selection.

Meanwhile, Burn has been ever-present for Eddie Howe this season, making 35 appearances and starting every Premier League game for Newcastle.

Newcastle set for defensive overhaul as Kieran Trippier faces uncertain future

Despite his bond with Burn, Trippier has faced mounting criticism from Newcastle fans this season, with calls for the club to move on from the experienced right-back due to inconsistent form.

With Livramento and Hall impressing in recent months, Trippier has seen his role diminish, making just 17 Premier League appearances and starting only six times.

Football Insider revealed that the Magpies are already planning their summer transfer business, and Trippier could leave Newcastle to make way for fresh additions.

However, with Hall now sidelined for the rest of the season, the 34-year-old could still have a crucial role to play in the final months of the campaign.
